| Lord Nelson's fleets used hourglasses as they sailed into battle. Three slim brass columns enclose the glass, supporting discs of polymer ivory scrimshawed with scenes of HMS Victory and of Nelson's death in the arms of Captain Hardy. The second disc depicts Lady Hamilton, the Battle of Copenhagen and Nelson with his telescope to his blind eye saying "I see no ships". Height 24cm, 13cm diameter. |
