*Kew Palace plate: Henry Addington

This is one of a set of eight plates which are identical to the series on display in the King’s Dining Room at Kew Palace. Each plate has a unique design incorporating the name of a person who met or might have dined with George III at Kew Palace. Henry Addington (1757 – 1844) was Speaker of the House of Commons and then an unremarkable Prime Minister from 1801 to 1804. He was, however, personally liked by the King who created him Viscount Sidmouth in 1805 and gave him White Lodge in Richmond Park and occasionally rode over from Kew to visit him there. The quotation on the plate reads, “There was one thing wanting in him … To be plain it was talents”. Limited edition of 120. Bone china, domestic dishwasher proof, 30.5 cm diameter. There may be an additional postage and packing charge for this item. We will contact you. Price:£40.00 £9.99
