Medieval armour - great helm
The Great Helm comes from the Middle Ages and this helmet was used by knights in the crusades and by most European armies from approximately 1220 to 1540AD. This helmet completely covered the head and only had small openings for the eyes and mouth. While this offered good protection it greatly limited the knight's vision and ventilation. The Great Helm was usually worn over chainmail and it was often removed in close combat to allow greater vision and movement. Our magnificent Great Helm is a very high quality replica of one of the helmets currently on display at the Royal Armouries in Leeds. The Great Helm features 18 gauge steel construction and is perfect for LARP and living history. The helmet includes a leather spider style liner and leather chin strap - all made from premium quality leather.
