Our stunning fine bone china large mug is decorated with bunting style flag illustrations in a contemporary mid-century modern palette, inspired by the flags of the Field of the Cloth of Gold festival in 1520.
The Field of the Cloth of Gold was an opulent summit held in June 1520 to celebrate the newfound bond of friendship between King Henry VIII of England and King Francis I of France. This magnificent event was celebrated with 18 days of feasts, tournaments, masquerades and religious services amidst a sea of elaborate tents, banqueting houses and 'portable palaces'.
Celebrating the 500th anniversary of this spectacular festival, our coffee mug features the date 2020.
