A stunning wooden St Andrew Shield which is painted with the Saltire of St Andrew. Decorated with brass lions and further brass fittings.
King Angus of the Picts faced an army of Saxons at the Battle of Athelstaneford where he achieved a victory against a larger force. The night before the battle, in a dream, he saw a cross in the sky and went on to win the battle. The following morning he saw the Saltire Cross and the rest was history. Following the battle Saint Andrew and his cross were adopted as symbols for the emerging Scotland, something which lasts to this day.
