      Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and her husband Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh will celebrate 70 years of marriage on 20th November 2017. The royal couple have celebrated a number of landmarks royal occasions in the last year including the Sapphire Jubilee (65th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth's accession to the throne in 1952) in February 2017, the Queen's 91st birthday in April 2017 and Prince Philip's decision to step back from public duties. Britain's longest reigning monarch Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, 96, are the first ever British royal couple to celebrate a platinum wedding anniversary.

      On 20th November 1947 Princess Elizabeth married Prince Philip at Westminster Abbey in front of 2000 guests. The Queen's wedding, seventy years ago, was the first royal wedding to be broadcast via the BBC. Married just after the second world war, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip's marriage captured the hearts of the British nation and continues to inspire the public 70 years on.
