Fabric decoration of 'Dash', Queen Victoria's King Charles Spaniel companion
Given to Victoria at age 13, the King Charles Spaniel, 'Dash', remained the Queen's closest and most loyal companion from childhood through to her Coronation in 1838. Dash died in 1840, and was buried at Adelaide Cottage in Windsor Home Park with a marble effigy marking his grave.
This adorable decoration inspired by Dash is handmade by artisans in India using the traditional technique of zardozi embroidery, an ancient handi-craft using gold and silver metal thread embroidery, embellished with beads, crystals and silk thread embellishments to create exquisite and wonderfully collectable items. Perfect for dog lovers, history buffs and Royalists.
