Five regiments of Guards work alongside the Yeoman Warders ('Beefeaters') to protect the Crown Jewels and guard the Tower of London. From a distance they appear identical, but each military dress is unique. There are ways to distinguish between the regiments if you know what to look for: the spacing of the buttons on their famous red tunic, the badge worn on the shoulder and collar, and the colour of the plume and position on the bearskin.
