A delightful set of three genuine pre-decimal coins depicting Queen Elizabeth II, her father George VI and grandfather George V, mounted on a dark blue background and ready to display in a wood and glass frame. Since the 17th century, it is a tradition on coinage and stamps for successive British monarchs to face the opposite direction to their predecessor. As Queen Elizabeth II was shown looking right, King Charles III will be facing left.

This fascinating collection of genuine pennies were in circulation in pockets and purses when Britain used a currency system of twelve pennies to the shilling and twenty shillings to the pound.  It was a system that enriched the very language and literature of Britain, where tanners and bobs, ha’pennies and thruppenny-bits were instantly recognisable descriptions for the natives of these isles, but undoubtedly baffling in both name and complexity for unknowing visitors! A charmingly British memento of Queen Elizabeth II and a lovely addition to your home.

  • Display frame: 23cm x 18cm (9in x 7in)
  • Versatile wall or stand mount
