Seignorial Scenes Medieval Tapestry

This very fine tapestry from a medieval type with a so called "Thousand Flowers" background forms part of a set of 7 on the subject seignorial life. It represents the favourite pastimes of noblemen and their ladies around 1500. The characters are dressed in the Italian style introduced into France by Charles VIII at the time of his Italian campaign of 1495. Embroidery and the Concert on one tapestry. The originals are on display in the Cluny Museum. Measures 48cm x 96cm (18.9 x 37.8 inches)
