Catherine Howard was the fifth wife of Henry VIII and they were married almost immediately after Henry's marriage to Anne of Cleves was annulled. Henry VIII called Catherine his 'rose without a thorn'. Catherine was imprisoned and beheaded at the Tower of London after two years of marriage for an alleged romance with one of Henry's favourite courtiers. According to legend her final words were "I die a Queen, but I would rather have died the wife of Culpeper." The head of this beautiful collectable doll is individually sculpted in porcelain, as are the hands and feet with lifelike set-in eyes. The hair is fashioned from soft mohair and all the features are delicately painted by hand. The costume is made from delicate blue velvet, silver brocade and other rich materials; head-dress and gown are all finished with the appropriate scale pearls and jewellery. Each 13" (35cm) Catherine Howard doll is personally made from start to finish in the UK and is signed and numbered by the artist.
